Finding a good host

This tutorial will give you the ups and downs to some servers that you can use to start your web site out.
I have used some of these myself.
* this host will allow you to upload and run personal CGI scripts (see server description below for more)
Virtual Nine:
I have never used this server, but from what i hear it is good, it actually allows you to upload and run your own CGI scripts. The worst part is the space restrictions, which is set at 5 megs, other than that it seems to be a good server.
GeoCities:
One of the most known servers for various reasons, it has some CGI scripts built-in to it such as guestbook, counter, and some others. Overall i don't think it is a terribly good server, but it seems to attract many people.
freedom2surf:
I have never tried this server either, but it allows the user to upload up to 20 megs of stuff onto the server, which is plus. It also lets you use PHP scripts, over all it is better than geocities, though it may be slower.
freeservers:
This site is good if you want to host a domain name, they have DNS servers, which is always good. They also let you have 20 megs of space, but no CGI or PHP scripting. If you have a domain this is probably a good server to go with.
Smoove Network:
They are quite strict on site quality now and they charge five dollars if you are hosted on their servers, but that is quite cheap if you have been looking for a while. They allow CGI, PHP, SSI, and all those other goodies you can get, quite elite.
UZipp Hosting:
This server is also strict on hosting and whatnot, but they don't charge for hosting, the worst thing is a banner ad that you can place anywhere on your site. They, too, allow CGI, PHP, SSI, etc. Ranking them in the elite catagory also.
GetDuffed Network:
They are a host on a host, part of UZipp, but still good. They are not as strict on hosting, and you get a free subdomain @ getduffed.com. Since they are part of UZipp they allow the same things as they do.
