Christmas is upon the Simpson family, but unfortuanatally Bart got a tattoo which Marge did not like, she is forced to use half the families christmas savings in order to get it removed. To help get the money back Homer takes the job of department store Santa, but after a hot tip from Barney he looses all the money at the Springfield Race Track, but Homer lucks out, the owner of the dog throws him out when he looses and the family adopts the new dog, named Santa's Little Helper.
Bart cheats on an intelligence test by placing his name on anothers test, the other was infact a genius. Bart is now a supposed genius who gets sent off to a school for the gifted. With his new found intelligence the family goes to places for the smarter. But Bart reveals his secret after an accedental explosion in chemistry causes the entire scool to be covered in a green goop.
When Homer gets fired from the power plant for causing a meltdown he must reevaluate his life. This leads him to become the public safety advocate, with this position he manages to get speed bumbs installed and starts a rally against his old boss for new saftey measures. When he is behind closed doors with Mr. Burns, he manages to get rehired with an increased pay and a new position, Saftey Advisor.
After the family attends a company picnic, Homer realizes that his family might just be slightly dysfunctional. When he gets this premonition he seeks a family therapist, Dr. Marvin Monroe, who uses a new type of treatment called "shock therapy," the therapy quite literally has the family shocking each other, as they are strapped in electrical shock chairs.
Bart has been picked on long enough by the school bully, Nelson, so he asks the toughest Simpson alive, Grandpa Simpson, but then grandpa difers to a warfare expert, Herman. Herman puts major emphasis on troop strength, training, discipline, and strategy. With the help of the two Bart manages a small army and attacks Nelson and his group with a barrage of water balloons, forcing him to sign a treaty.
The meaning of life and existence catch up to Lisa and she gets a severe case of the blues. The only thing that she can do to help it is play the sax, but she has no one to groove with. She sneaks out one night and meets a jazz player, Bleeding Gums Murphy. Bleeding Gums help Lisa in expressing her feelings in the form of music. This prompts Lisa to write a blue's song for the club he works at, after he plays it she is happy once again.
Flanders buys a brand-new RV for his family and in order to help save face Homer does the same for his family. The Simpsons go out to the woods for a small camping trip in their new RV, but after a bit of wreckless driving Homer accedentally drives it off a cliff. Being the men that they are Homer and Bart go out to save the family by finding help, unknown to them Maggie follow and becomes lost, going on an amazing trip herself.
Bart attempts to impress Jimbo Jones and his posse by stealing the head of the statue of the Springfield founder, Jebediah Springfield. In an attempt to save Bart, Homer helps him by aiding him in the secret return of the head at night, but an angered mob of townspeople find out and Bart tells them the entire story.
For Marge's birthday Homer buys a bowling ball, that he, of course, actually got for himself. But to spite him Marge starts taking bowling lesson from a suave, French bowling pro named, Jacques. After improving her game quite a bit Jacques and Marge grow closer and closer, spending almost every night at the bowling alley and having a brunch now and then. Fearing that he might loose her Homer tries to get her back to the family by reminding her of her loyalty.
Weilding a small spy camera that he recieved in the mail, Bart manages to take a picture of Homer drunk and dancing with a belly-dancer named Princess Kashmir. After he gets the image devoloped it is photo-copied and placed throughout the town, this nearly ruins the marrige between Marge and him. Fearing the Bart may just start treating women as sex objects, she forces Homer to take him to meet the princess.
Bart has done many things wrong in school and he will finally pay the price, Principal Skinner has gotten Marge and Homer to join a Foreign Exchange Program. Bart gets sent to France with two slave-driving winemakers, Homer and Marge get Adil from Albania, his mission: to steal SNPP's secrets. Meanwhile Bart manages to escape the vineyard with hopes of informing local authorities on their evil liquor creations, but will he be able to talk the talk?
After Homer witnesses Krusty the Klown robbing the Kwik-E-Mart, no one is hurt by the news than Bart. Bart quickly enrolls his younger sister to help prove that Krusty was framed. After going through all the evidence the two finally realize that Krusty couldn't have done it, but Sideshow Bob did!
When Marge and Homer decide to go out for a well-deserved romantic dinner, they leave the kids with a new babysitter named Ms. Botz. After watching America's Most Wanted Armed and Dangerous, Bart becomes convinced that the babysitter is in fact, The Babysitter Bandit, a wanted criminal. Bart is found to be correct when Ms. Botz ties up Bart and Lisa in order to rob the house. Their only hope, Maggie.
