About

The story of this site, Spirit of Springfield, began back in 1999 with my first website, it was simply called "SWMike Online." It got hits from who ever a told the site about, so i got around 50 hits per year... This site included info about "The Simpsons", "Dilbert", the "Star Wars" trilogy, and some other show. And it was created using frames, gag!

After i decided that frames, well sucked, i changed the site layout, just using tables, i also took everything off except "The Simpsons" and "Dilbert", after a while i finished the simpsons part of the site, though i never got to changing the dilbert portion of the site.

Eventually a changed the site to just include the simpsons, i called my creation "The Simpsons Online" (screenshot to your right). This site was getting about 5 hits per day, i was happy. After about a week of being open SoCKo (from toonsite.net) asked me if he could host me, i, of course, accepted.

After getting all the info i needed i started creating a new design (seen to your right), i also changed the name to "Just Another Simpsons Site" because "the Simpsons online" just didn't seem original. The site was reopened July 8, 2000. This site averaged about 20 hits per day, this made me quite pleased. This layout/design/name lasted about one month. Then the newest, and IMHO the best layout came out.

On August 8, 2000 I came out with a sweeet new design and a whole new name "Spirit of Springfield." You can see this too your right. Hopefully everyone else likes this design as much as i do! As you can see the new design is by far, the most different of all my sites and it still is quite user friendly. I am hoping that this design will stick around for quite a while.

On November 6, 2000 Yeah, well 2 months is a while isn't it?!? Whatever, i think this design is better than any of the others by far. It has an almost one-of-a-kind navigation system (i like to call it the IMIOS nav). After this design was up for less than a week i got myself a co-webmaster! A month and 16 days after the grand opening i decided to place a background image on this site, which was of bart, when i did that i made the entire header in SSI, so now i can change the background to an image of Lisa, Marge, Homer, or anyone else i want it to be!

Sometime during April or May in 2001, Smoovenet decided to kick me off of their network. At the time i didn't really mind but i wanted to come back, amazingly I was offered more server space from Illogical. Though i never actually got around to putting the site up there, i am putting this exerpt in cause Ill is a cool guy...

But the UZipp started to, well, suck, so i got around to buying some server space from PHPWebhosting, and i also bought a domin name, thus we have spirit.xnerd.net!

Years later and after about two years of no updates or anything, i decided to redesign... This time without any place for me to update because i know i will never update, but i still give myself the option to add new images and visitors would find out about that, with a current image count on the front page with an explanation as to why it is setup the way it is. Hopefully this design will last a while and bring in many visitors.

:: FAQ

Can you create my website?
Possibly, I have never actually created a site for someone else, but i will try to make one. If you are interested go to my company website at: xybersoft.homepage.com.

Can you put a link to my site on your site?
Maybe, if i think your site is of a high-quality, i will put a link to your site on my site, as long as you put one to my site on your site. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.

Why are all you web pages end with .shtml?
Most people are used to using just HTML, but SHTML is a bit better (assuming your server can do it) SHTML is Server Side Includes, so all i have to do is change one file to make a change to all my sites.

Why am i not a winner in the contests?
This is probably because you didn't get the answer correct, try again!

Where did you come up with "Spirit of Springfield"?
Heh heh, i thought you might wonder about this one, i got the title from the episode "The Trouble with Trillions" (#5F14), when the US government was going to give Europe the trillion dollar bill they gave it to Mr. Burns to deliver via airplane, and the name of his plane was... Spirit of Springfield!

Why are you so damn gay?
Ummmmm, i'm not... i don't know why you are asking me that, but if you want a partner please e-mail the sender, by folowing this link, e-mail him.
